Upon discovering a failed alcohol or drug test, you will meet with your Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (QSAP). Together, you'll undergo an assessment to identify your needs and ensure you become a safer, more reliable safety-sensitive employee. You will also discuss your rights and confidentiality.

After your assessment, you'll be referred to a service provider for the recommended education and/or treatment. Successfully completing these steps is crucial before returning to work. Additionally, you’ll need to pass a drug test to confirm you're clean before taking your Return to Duty Test.

It's your final employee evaluation. Once you complete the recommendation made in the initial assessment, you again meet with your QSAP, to discuss whether you have received the information you need to be the best safety sensitive employee you can be. There may be additional recommendations along with your Follow-up testing.

Once your QSAP has registered your information on the FMCSA Clearinghouse, your letters will be sent to your employer at their request. These letters include your follow -up testing plan and possibly further recommendations. Your Follow-up Testing Plan can take up to 5 years to complete.

- Once your QSAP has entered your Initial and Follow-up Assessments checkoffs in the Clearinghouse and your letters have been sent to your employer or CTPA, you are ready for your Return to Duty alcohol/drug test. Keep in mind, both your Return to Duty and Follow-Up Tests will be observed by a Drug Test Technician.

FMCSA will allow a driver to enroll on the Clearinghouse as an Owner/Operator so that you will be incompliance until you find your dream job. The Certified Third-Party Administrator will set up random Follow-Up Testing for you just as an employer.
